Make an informed decision

Find expertise that fits your business.

Start with the subscription business model

A SaaS company can need several kinds of executive support at once, but the starting point should be a specific constraint. Cash planning, customer acquisition, product reliability and organizational growth require different responsibilities. A provider’s SaaS experience is useful when it translates into decisions relevant to your sales motion and product stage.

Choose the function that owns the problem

A CFO can connect subscription assumptions, hiring and spending to cash scenarios. A CMO can examine positioning, acquisition channels and the relationship between marketing and sales. A CTO can guide architecture, engineering capability and technical risk. A CRO can coordinate the commercial journey across teams when the mandate includes more than sales management.

The same label covers different businesses. A self-serve product and an enterprise platform have different buying cycles, implementation requirements and support workloads. Tell providers how your customers buy, activate, renew and expand rather than using “SaaS” as the entire brief.

Evidence to request

Ask for a comparable operating problem and the executive’s direct responsibility for it. Discuss how they define metrics, what data they need and which assumptions they would test first. Do not treat a recognizable software client logo as proof that the assigned person has done the work you need.

Review the interface between executives. A marketing plan should connect to sales capacity and financing; a product roadmap should account for engineering capacity and customer commitments. When hiring more than one fractional leader, define who resolves conflicting priorities.

Build a focused shortlist

Explore SaaS CFO firms, SaaS CMO firms and SaaS CTO firms. Graphite Financial, Kalungi and Kinori Labs illustrate different published specializations. Inclusion indicates documented service relevance, not a performance ranking.

Before a proposal, provide your current team structure, the next major decisions and the capacity available to implement changes. Ask for an initial scope that can be reviewed as evidence develops.
